My Date With Drew

30 days, $1100, For an Ordinary Guy to Get a Date with Drew Barrymore.

I can't remember how I found out about this movie, but the important thing is that I did :)

There's nothing more inspiring than to see a complete and total LOSER make his dreams come true.  If that moron can do it?  Surely, I can make some of my dreams come true some day.

But, seriously, this is a pretty fun concept, all true, all real, and pretty well-put together movie.

It inspires me to try my own 30-day experiment.

Be Kind, Rewind

You name it, we shoot it.

The trailer for this film got me.  I shoot things with my friends, sometimes, for fun and to see that someone goes out and remakes movies in a very amateur (but, surprisingly, accurate) way was absolutely inspring to me.

But, the inspiration of the ghetto Ghostbusters didn't end there.  This movie is inspiring to me because it's about a group of people who come together to achieve a goal.  The two friends get their entire neighborhood in on making an original film.  It has a bittersweet ending, but a lot of heart, and when I finished watching it, I felt like I could make a difference and have fun in the world.

Imaginary Bitches

A web series about a single girl who deals with the lonely reality that all her friends are in serious relationships by making up imaginary friends...who turn out to be total bitches.

I found out about IB through researching Eden Riegel (I have to know everything about an actor/actress when I become a fan, so don't worry, I'm not stalking her), who I discovered from getting into All My Children after the first of this year.  AMC has broken her character's heart once again and it's hard to watch, but I'm glad I can walk away from that soap opera having found another actress to cheer for.  I think Eden is a tremendous talent (she's an Emmy-award winning triple threat) and IB shows how imaginative and fun she is.

From what I understand, when Eden was shooting "The Year One" with Jack Black and Michael Cera, she was inspired by their love for making Internet content.  Her husband, Andrew Miller, created the idea of Imaginary Bitches and they truly make it an affair of family and friends.

I love that they have NO budget, shoot in their own backyard and sneak cameras in public places, and beg their friends and family to be involved.  Eden's sister is a professional editor and edits all the episodes.  Eden's husband writes the episodes.  Eden and Andrew's friends are the actors.  Eden is the star.  And, 2 million people have been watching.

IB inspires me because I think, "Man, I could do this!".  I could get my friends and family together to shoot something with no budget and have fun doing it.  All I need is an idea.
